World number three Carlos Alcaraz dropped out of the 2025 Madrid Open. Alcaraz secured 2 Madrid Open victories in 2022 and 2023

Local supporters and Madrid Open officials faced a setback when Spanish professional tennis player Carlos Alcaraz decided not to play due to chronic leg injuries. World number three Carlos Alcaraz dropped out of the 2025 Madrid Open because he was still recovering from an upper leg injury that emerged during the Barcelona Open final and he simultaneously faced problems with his left leg.

The tournament debutante held his first Caja Mágica appearance this Saturday until he received medical test outcomes which he awaited earlier during the week because he had not tested his skills at the venue. The Spanish tennis champion initially expressed feeling fine yet later selected French Open recovery as his priority over participating in the tournament.

Alcaraz secured 2 Madrid Open victories in 2022 and 2023 and started this tournament as the second seed before dealing with competitive rivals in the same bracket as Novak Djokovic. The field now lacks an essential component because home supporters were looking forward to his comeback at Spanish capital events.

Alcaraz faced his first injury-related issues after losing by straight sets to Holger Rune in the final stage of the Barcelona Open when medical staff provided treatment on court. The competitive environment on tour was concerning him because he had accumulated many matches with little time for recovery between tournaments. Alcaraz maintained positive thoughts about his condition moving forward because he intends to defend his French Open championship title in the next month. In his victory at Roland Garros 2024 he defeated Alexander Zverev to claim the title at a tournament where Zverev had just taken the lead from him in the ATP rankings after winning in Munich.
