Sevilla and Mallorca played a thrilling La Liga match on February 24 that ended with a 1-1 draw at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium. Both were hoping to gain points that could be vital in their quest for European qualification. Sevilla at home were looking to turn the fixture in their favor while Mallorca were doing everything right away from home. The match brimmed with intensity with both sides jostling for dominance throughout the match. The contest proved to be a thrilling duel and thoroughly kept fans on the edge of their seats until the final whistle blew.
First Half: Sevilla Takes Control
From the start, Sevilla dominated the game by keeping most of the possession and creating multiple attacking opportunities. Their consistent pressure finally bore fruit on the verge of halftime, as Kike Salas enjoyed a defensive lapse from Mallorca and slotted in a vital goal to hand the hosts a 1-0 lead. While Sevilla had control in the first half, they squandered further chances to extend their advantage, leaving the match delicately poised as the teams headed into the break.

Second Half: Mallorca’s Determined Fightback
Mallorca were better in the second half, especially after the substitution of Robert Navarro, who provided the team with new attacking thrust. They made a big effort to try and score after that and kept testing the Sevilla defense. Finally, just as the game was ending, Martin Valjent finished from the rebounds after Sevilla’s goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland made a big mistake, scored the equalizer in the 91st, earning Mallorca a point from the game. This late strike by Valjent threw away Sevilla’s chance of having snatched up points when they had decent opportunities.
