Shreyas Iyer has once again displayed his prowess as a batter when he smashed 97 runs in the opening game of the tournament for Punjab Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. His innings came in 42 balls. This is his highest IPL score surpassing his previous record of 96 runs against the similar team Gujarat Giants in 2017 when he used to play for the Delhi Daredevils. He has clearly justified why a bidding war between franchises had raised his IPL price to 26.75cr, the second highest in the IPL history.
After an early loss of Prabhsimran Singh, Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer arrived at the crease to stabilise the innings and build a considerable score against the Gujarat Giants at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Tuesday. He completed his half century in just 27 balls. Priyansh Arya gave a good hand with the bat by scoring 47 runs and fell short of a potential half century on his debut game in the Indian Premier League. Sai Kishore’s spin magic, dismissed two consecutive Punjab batters, including Glenn Maxwell and Azmatullah Omarzai.
