IPL 2025: The 30th match of the 2025-season will see Rishabh Pant-led Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) take on MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Ekana Stadium on Monday, April 14.
LSG are currently sitting comfortably at fourth place in the points table, with four wins from six matches. Meanwhile, CSK find themselves in unfamiliar territory at the very bottom, with just one win from their six outings so far.

High Stakes for LSG, Rough Road for CSK
Even if CSK pull off a win, they won’t be able to move out of the last spot because of their poor net run rate and general performance. On the other hand, victory for LSG could be historic—they would overtake Gujarat Titans and sit at number one on the table.
Gujarat Titans (GT) sit at No. 1 right now with 8 points (4 wins in 6 matches) and a healthy net run rate of +1.081. They’re trailed by Delhi Capitals (DC), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), and then LSG. An LSG win, irrespective of the margin, would award them 10 points—becoming the first team this season to reach double digits in the table.
Playoff Picture and the Road Ahead
Taking the number one position, even if only for a day, would provide a huge strategic boost to LSG. The top two teams have two opportunities to make it to the final. They meet each other first in Qualifier 1, and the winner proceeds directly to the final. The losing team gets another opportunity in Qualifier 2, meeting the winner of the Eliminator (between the third and fourth-placed teams).
This season’s final is fixed for May 25, while Qualifier 1 and 2 are on May 20 and 23 respectively.
With the business end of IPL 2025 looming large, Monday’s battle could prove to be a make-or-break moment for LSG and CSK.
