KKR Post 157/7 vs MI

KKR opted to bat first, but their openers, Sunil Narine and Phil Salt, struggled, scoring only 6 runs. Narine, known for his explosive batting, was dismissed for a golden duck by a brilliant delivery from Jasprit Bumrah.

Venkatesh Iyer emerged as the top scorer for KKR with a well-constructed 42 off just 21 balls in front of their home crowd, helping the league leaders post a competitive total of 157/7 in their 16 overs.

Piyush Chawla led the Mumbai bowling attack, claiming 2 wickets, as the stage was set for an exciting second innings after the match was shortened due to rain.

While KKR is aiming for a win to secure a spot in the playoffs, Mumbai Indians are looking to end their campaign on a high note.

KKR Qualify At Home

In reply, MI openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan started brightly for the visitors and made it look like the duo would single-handedly win the match for the 5-time champions.

However, quick wickets saw both openers on their way to the pavilion within 8 overs. While Ishan Kishan departed after scoring an aggressive 22-ball 40 runs, it was Rohit Sharma who failed to put his dismal form in the past as he was dismissed on just 19 runs.

With the score at 67/2 in 7.5 overs, it was the in-form duo of Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma who continued the chase for the Mumbai Indians. With things still looking in hand for Mumbai, what followed was a batting order collapse with MI struggling at 92/5 at 12.1 overs. Mumbai was limited to just 139/8 with Harshit Rana, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Andre Russell picking up 2 scalps each on the night.

In the end, Kolkata got their victory in front of the home fans and qualified for the playoffs on the night.
