Indian Team Receives Prize Money Even After Not Advancing To The WTC Finals! Know Why

Team India, which ended up third in the WTC points table, also got a prize money.

South Africa won the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 final against Australia with the assistance of an outstanding century by Aiden Markram. South Africa had to score 282 to win in the final. First, the Australian bowlers tried their level best, but Markram held his ground and dominated. He made a brilliant 136 runs and put his team on the verge of winning. Markram was caught right when it seemed that South Africa was going to win. Soon, South Africa closed the game and made history. This victory also meant that South Africa got rid of the tag of chokers that they had been bearing for ages under the leadership of Temba Bavuma.

South Africa Lands Big Prize

The prize money South Africa got as the champions is 3.6 million US dollars, equivalent to 31 crore approx. Meanwhile, Australia, the runner-up, got 2.16 million dollars, which is approximately 18.63 crore.

India Wins Major Award As Well

Team India, which ended up third in the WTC points table, got a prize money of 12.42 crores. New Zealand, which finished fourth, received ₹10 crore and England, which ended fifth, received ₹8.28 crore.
