Yuki Bhambri and Robert Galloway of America advanced to the last 16 of the Men's doubles.

There was a moment of joy for Indian tennis enthusiasts at Wimbledon 2025 when Indo-American duo Yuki Bhambri and Robert Galloway of America played exceptionally and advanced to the last 16 of the Men’s Doubles. Seeded 16th, the Indo-American duo defeated Portugal’s Nuno Borges and America’s Marcos Giron 6-3, 7-6(6) in the second round.

New milestone in career

This is a historic feat for Bhambri as he has made it to the third round of men’s doubles at Wimbledon for the first time. With this, he has become one of the few Indian players to make it to the Round of 16 in all four Grand Slams. Bhambri, who was the junior world number 1 once, has greatly improved in doubles over the past three years and now makes it to the Grand Slam level on a regular basis.

Bhambri and Galloway began the match on confident terms. In the first set, he held off three break points at 3-3 and took charge of the game and won the set 6-3. The second set was tough, where he was down 2-5, but kept his cool and came to the tiebreak and won the match by 8-6. This match was over in 1 hour 35 minutes on Court 12.

Next match: Test of toughness

Now in the third round, Bhambri and Galloway are set to take on the seasoned combination of Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos, seeded fourth. They are both ex-world number 1 and beat India’s N. Sriram Balaji and Mexico’s Reyes-Varela in straight sets in the last round.

India’s sole hope

As other Indian pairs have been knocked out of the tournament and Rohan Bopanna did not play at Wimbledon this year, Bhambri is India’s sole hope in the men’s doubles division. This duo is in the news for his steady performance and Galloway’s great net play. If he secures the next match, it will be Yuki Bhambri’s career-best Wimbledon performance.
