IND vs AUS: Virat Kohli And Gautam Gambhir Jump In Joy After Akash Deep Helps Team India Avoid Follow-On | Watch

The Indian team ended the Day 4 of IND vs AUS 3rd Test at a score of 252/9 wherein Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah helped the team avoid the follow-on.

India and Australia are playing against each other in the third Test of the five-match series at ‘Tha Gabba’ in Brisbane. Rain has proved out to be a constant saviour for the Indian team in the match as of now wherein more than two days of play has been washed out. However, despite, the showers saving the visitors, they have been pushed way back by the Aussies in the match as of now. Australia registered a mammoth first-innings score of 445 runs wherein Travis Head and Steve Smith smashed match winning hundreds. The Indian team was reduced 51/4 at the end of Day 3 of IND vs AUS 3rd Test and they needed something special from Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul to avoid follow-on.

However, just like the other batters, Indian captain Rohit Sharma got cheaply for a score of 10 runs whereas nine wickets had fallen for just 213 runs and the visitors still needed 33 runs to achieve a score of 246 runs and avoid the follow-on. At this point, it didn’t look the Indian team will get bowled out shortly and the Aussies will enforce the follow-on. However, Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah had different plans as the last Indian standing duo put up a partnership of 39 runs from 54 balls which helped the Rohit Sharma and Co get past the follow-on score of 246 runs.

As soon as Akash Deep hit a boundary off Pat Cummins, the India dug out was pumped wherein Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir gave a high-five to each other in joy. At the end of Day 4, the Indian team ended up at 252/9 and still trail by 193 runs in reply of Australia’s first innings score.
