‘He Needs To Understand’ – Rohit Sharma Miffed With Rishabh Pant’s Dismissal In Melbourne Test

Indian captain Rohit Sharma was miffed with wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant's dismissal in the Melbourne Test and stated that he needs to understand what is required off him in the team.

The Indian team suffered a heartbreaking loss against Australia in the fourth Test played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Team India couldn’t chase down 340 runs in the fourth innings and was wrapped up for 155 runs. Australia won a Test match at the MCG against India after a gap of 13 years. Top Indian batters including skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant didn’t rise to the occasion and got dismissed cheaply. Pant was expected to score runs at the MCG due to his performances in Australia in the past, however, the latter got out in both innings by playing some irresponsible shots.

Rohit Sharma Unhappy With Rishabh Pant

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was asked about Rishabh Pant’s dismissal in the post-match press conference. Rohit asked the reporters after being quizzed about which dismissal he was asked. He said, “Today? Or the day before? There hasn’t been any discussion about today. Obviously, you know, we lost the game. Everybody is disappointed about how things actually panned out. We certainly didn’t think of this result. There is no doubt about that.”

Rohit Sharma stated that Rishabh Pant needs to understand what is expected from him in the team setup. He said, “Look Rishabh Pant, he needs to understand what is required of him. More than any one of us telling him, you know, it’s about him understanding and figuring out what is the right way to go about it.”

The India national cricket team will look forward to win the fifth Test match of the series set to be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground from December 3. The Indian team must win the match if they wish to qualify for the finals of the World Test Championship.
