Indian cricketer Rinku Singh got engaged to the Samajwadi Party MP, Priya Saroj, in Lucknow. Kolkata Knight Riders’ star batters will tie the wedding knots later this year. The journey of Rinku Singh has been nothing short of an adventure tale. He came to be known to the cricketing world when he smashed 5 sixes to Yash Dayal in the match against the Gujarat Titans in 2023. But many might not be aware that Rinku Singh had been in the limelight earlier than achieving this feat. He was suspended by BCCI for 3 months in 2019 for partaking in an unauthorised T20 competition in Abu Dhabi without prior permission. This suspension for three months led to his withdrawal from the India A squad as well.

“As per the BCCI norms, a player registered with the Board cannot play in any tournaments abroad without the Board’s permission. Mr. Rinku Singh therefore has been suspended with immediate effect for a period of three months starting June 1, 2019,” the release stated.
“Singh did not seek permission from the BCCI before taking part in the T20 league hence directly violating the BCCI rules and regulations,” BCCI added.
Rinku’s IPL Journey
He started in the IPL playing for the Punjab Kings, but he turned into an important part of the Kolkata Knight Riders’ middle order. The numbers show how skilled Singh was during his playing days. He has participated in 2 ODIs, getting 55 runs and an average of 27.50. In the IPL Auction 2025, the KKR team bought Rinku Singh for the sum of Rs 13.00 Cr. On May 5, 2025, in his last IPL game against SRH at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, he made 9 runs with 6 balls.
Who is Priya Saroj
At only 25 years old, Priya Saroj is known as one of India’s most promising MPs, as she represents the Machhlishahr area in Uttar Pradesh. Priya Saroj was brought into politics after her politician father, Tufani Saroj, when everyone was struck by surprise during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Her career began as a law professional before she went into politics. At Noida’s Amity University, she gained experience working at the Supreme Court. Although her background was political, she did not plan to take a public office in the beginning.
