There is only a year untill the openning of FIFA World Cup 2026 and the qualification picture is getting more intense around the world. Though the complete list of the 48 taking part nations is still to be ratified, a number of teams have already qualified in what will be the biggest staging of the tournament ever. Automatic qualifiers are hosts Canada, Mexico and the United States as well as South American giants Argentina and Brazil. Asia: Uzbekistan, Iran, Japan, Jordan, South Korea, New Zealand and Australia are through. As non of the European countries have qualified here is how they can qualify for the FIFA 2026 World Cup.
How The European Countries Can Qualify?
Over all 16 UEFA countries will be qualified in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The 12 group winners are automatically qualified to the World Cup, the four play off berths are decided through play-offs between the 12 group runners-up. The 12 group runners-up will play-off, joined by the four highest-ranked group winners of the 2024/25 UEFA Nations League who did not complete their European Qualifiers group stage in first or second place.

The 16 teams that qualify into the play-offs will be seeded into four play-off paths, each containing four teams. The play-off matches will be hopped over with single-leg semi-finals and single-leg finals in the same international window in March 2026.
