Woakes to Pant, SIX, what a man Pant is! Last over of the day, there's a deep square-leg in place, he doesn't think about all that. He wants to hit this and smokes it for six. He comes down the track and takes the length delivery on the stumps, swings it and the ball flies over deep square-leg's head as he backtracked, Woakes can't quite believe it as does Stokes, both can only smile
India will be playing five-match Test series against England with the first Test starting from June 20 and it will be held at Headingley. With Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli now retired, Shubman Gill has taken the charge as the new captain of India, with Rishabh Pant as his deputy. Both the sides will be looking forward to a win as this series also marks the start of new WTC cycle of 2025-27 for both the teams.

Will Ravindra Jadeja get a chance in playing 11?
The big question arises in this scenario is that “Will Ravindra Jadeja Get A Chance In Playing 11?“, the veteran has been a sensational playing in the red-ball format for India and scored a majestic century in his last test in England. With all sheer experience, Jadeja might get upper-hand ahead of Washington Sundar.

Brydon Carse to Pant, no run, no bat and anyway Brook at 2nd slip drops it as he dives to his right. It flicked the back trouser on the way to Brook, the wobble-seam delivery opens Pant up as he gets forward to defend, was on off, past the outside-edge and flicks the trouser
Woakes to Pant, FOUR, so ugly and it's an uglier way to get to a fifty but Pant won't care. Full on middle, Pant sinks low to slogsweep, right off the toe-end and it runs wide of the diving mid-on to his right, looks like he wants to take the new-ball head-on
Josh Tongue to Shubman Gill, FOUR, the off-side field is open and Shubman Gill takes advantage of that.
Josh Tongue to Pant, 1 run, he tried the same shot earlier in the over, now gets a bit of glove and there's no legslip or leg-gully to try and catch that. A rising short delivery on the stumps, Pant gets inside the line and gloves the pull, loops away to the vacant area
Josh Tongue to Shubman Gill, FOUR, 100 on Test captaincy debut for Shubman Gill. Joins an elite list of Indians which has Gavaskar, Kohli, Hazare and Vengsarkar in doing so. Look at the reaction from him, he removes his helmet and waves it fiercely in the air and mouths a "come on" which shows how much he wanted this. One of his best innings in this format. He has been almost near-flawless.
Bashir to Pant, 1 run, drops short of the man very straight who is Carse, who is very straight. Pant comes down the track and is not to the pitch of the ball, still lofts, the bat turns, off the thick inside half and there was a mid-on as well, he clears him and it drops short of Carse running to his left
Woakes to Pant, FOUR, soft outside-edge and four. Wide of Brook at a wide slip. On a length outside off, Pant tries to run it down and the outside-edge went down, slightly open face too
Woakes to Shubman Gill, no run, full outside off, Shubman Gill gets forward to defend to cover, solidly behind that
Bashir to Shubman Gill, no run, flighted delivery just outside off stump, Gill defends. Bashir stays round the wicket
Stokes to Pant, no run, ohh now he almost shaved the off stump! That is a tigh leave. Too close for comfort. Stunning late inswinger from good length. He's getting it to swing big. Pant thought this would comfortably miss
Bashir to Shubman Gill, 2 runs, flighted delivery on the stumps, Gill works it to backward square leg
Stokes to Jaiswal, out Bowled!! Oh he's knocked him over! Did him in with the angle and then away movement off the pitch. Top beat the bat of a batter who's made a hundred and hit the top of off stump has to be something exceptional. Length delivery from Stokes's cunning widish angle. Jaiswal tried the drive down the ground. Ball nipped away to beat the outside edge and hit timbaahh! Stokes has his arm up in celebration. His body language so upbeat as he walked in and he's led from the front
Brydon Carse to Jaiswal, 1 run, there it is and boy doesn't he love it! Good length delivery on off-stump, Jaiswal hangs back and eases it towards point before setting off, he raises his arm and takes the helmet off before leaping in joy as he makes it through to the other end, lets out a big roar and punches the air in delight. There's a real sense of satisfaction on his face, he wanted this badly and you could see it in the celebration. He's sure making a happy habit of scoring centuries in the opening Test of a series. Remember, he got a big one in the first Test of the BGT last year
Brydon Carse to Jaiswal, FOUR, crunched! Length delivery slanting across outside off
Josh Tongue to Shubman Gill, FOUR, through the gap! Dug in short on off-stump, Shubman Gill isn't going to shy away from taking the short ball on, he gets on top of the bounce and thumps it through the gap at mid-wicket, fifty for Shubman Gill on captaincy debut! He's stepped up to the occasion and how!
Josh Tongue to Jaiswal, 1 run, 50 for Jaiswal. A short of length delivery on middle, Jaiswal nudges to the vacant mid-wicket area, raises the bat to acknowledge the applause. He has started the series well
Woakes to Shubman Gill, FOUR, phew! What a shot. Granted it's a half-volley on off, but look at that from Shubman Gill as he shows the full face of the bat after getting forward, drives the ball where it came back from, straight down the ground and he holds the pose too, certainly loved that, the shot of the day so far
Woakes to Shubman Gill, FOUR, to long-off
Brydon Carse to Shubman Gill, FOUR, yorker length outside off, moves away, Shubman Gill moves towards it, squeezes it out through vacant cover-point, runs away to the fence
Brydon Carse to Shubman Gill, 5 runs, Pope misses a direct-hit and it would have been interesting with one. Would have been out despite a full-length dive, badly judged by Shubman Gill, he gets forward and pushes it to the left of mid-wicket, Pope gets across and cuts it off quickly, even Jaiswal was slow to start off and the throw could have gone to either end but Pope went to the non-striker's and missed, the throw is well wide of the fielder at mid-off and it runs away for four more. So a wicket-chance turns out to be 5
An outstanding session for India has suddenly turned into a balanced one right on the stroke of lunch. Two quick wickets for England has ruined what was a remarkable start for India. On a pitch that offered plenty of swing and seam movement, the Indian openers batted expertly. They were patient, left the ball well and made sure they cashed in when opportunities to score came by. England were left frustrated for the most part. The batters offered no chances when they bowled well and the moment they got a little too eager, they were humbled. Rahul played a series of soothing cover-drives and the opening stand crossed fifty and beyond at a good pace.
Stokes to Sai Sudharsan, out Caught by Jamie Smith!! He's been caught down leg. This is a brilliant plan from England. They had leg slip and kept bowling on the pads. Stokes added a leg gully as well before this ball. The plan was to make the batter doubt the flick/glance. Sai was very mindful of the men behind and curbed himself on the flick. The result is an edge for Smith to the right.
Brydon Carse to Rahul, out Caught by Root!! This time he couldn't resist and edges it to first slip. This is why they keep bowling full and wide in England. You got the risk the drive and bowl full, said Stuart Broad in his pitch report. That's exactly what Brydon Carse has done. Followed up a short ball with a wide full outswinger. KL let it go. The next ball is again fuller and slightly closer. The outswing takes the thick edge and Root catches it nicely moving to the left of first slip.
Stokes to Rahul, FOUR, Klassy from KL. If the straight angle wasn't good enough, the side angle. Oh beautiful.
Josh Tongue to Jaiswal, no ball, width outside off stump to test Jaiswal on the cut. Remember he played and missed last over as well. This time Jaiswal doesn't offer a shot. Another overstepping no ball from England
Josh Tongue to Rahul, FOUR, lovely shot! Josh Tongue has been a bit loose today, overpitched again on off-stump, Rahul prods forward and just pushes this gently through mid-off
Josh Tongue to Jaiswal, FOUR, you'll get four for that everyday of the week! Pitched up full and just outside off, juicy half-volley again and Jaiswal meets it with a glorious straight-drive, picture-perfect as it runs down to the boundary
Woakes to Rahul, FOUR, that's a KL special! Overpitched and shaping away outside off, Rahul presses forward and leans into this drive, sublime time, hands through the ball and it was a drive you could frame and put up on your wall
Woakes to Jaiswal, no run, that was close to off-stump! Good length delivery on off-stump, hits the deck and holds its line, good leave in the end
Brydon Carse to Jaiswal, FOUR, Jaiswal flashes and flashes hard! Pitched up full and wide outside off, Jaiswal threw his bat at it and had to reach out, managed to skew it through backward point off the outer half and it rushed to the ropes, was in the air but nowhere close to anybody
Woakes to Jaiswal, no run, full and shaping away outside off, Woakes probes away and Jaiswal remains patient, left alone
Woakes to Jaiswal, no run, good length delivery just outside off, hint of movement back in off the seam, Jaiswal shoulders arms
