SRH’s head coach Daniel Vettori has praised Kamindu Mendis for his great catch and getting CSK’s young star Dewald Brevis out after just scoring 46 runs in 25 balls in his debut match for the home team. According to Vettori this catch was the game changing moment which took the game away from CSK and made SRH win the match by 5 wickets making it difficult for CSK to qualify in the playoffs in this IPL season.
Daniel Vettori’s Views On Mendis Catch
“I think it’s just instinct. It’s an innate ability to be able to move, to see the ball and time you’re diving,” Vettori said in the post-match press conference.
“So it’s probably one of those catches that even a brilliant fielder only has one or two of in their career. A special moment from the catch, but more importantly for us, the moment in the game where Brevis was starting to take control, putting a lot of pressure back on us.
“And if he’d stayed in, probably the score would have gotten away on us, and it would have been a difficult chase,” Vettori added.
What Happened In The CSK Vs SRH Match
SRH defeated CSK by 5 wickets in Chepauk as their bowling attack dismantled the CSK batting lineup. Harshal Patel led SRH’s bowling attack with his four wickets as Jaydev and Pat Cummins combined for two each respectively. CSK struggled to achieve impressive performances in both their bowling and batting attacks. Dewald Brewis achieved a score of 42 points as the highest-scoring councillor while Ayush Mahtre achieved the second-highest point total of 30. The only SRH player managed two fang picks through Noor Ahmad during that match.
