Was ‘Insult’ The Real Reason Behind Ravichandran Ashwin’s Retirement? Manoj Tiwary Makes SHOCKING Revelation

Ravichandran Ashwin suddenly decided to retire during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and this left everyone wondering about the reason behind this decision.

Manoj Tiwary, a former India cricketer, has expressed anger against the manner in which Ravichandran Ashwin was treated by the Indian team management during their recent tour of Australia. Talking to the Press Trust of India, Tiwary said that Ashwin was dealt with appallingly, which he thinks is one of the reasons the spinner decided to quit international cricket.

Indian Team Management Responsible Ashwin’s Sudden Retirement?

Tiwary, who had also vented his frustration against head coach Gautam Gambhir in the past, targeted the management’s approach towards Ashwin. He felt that Ashwin was disrespected as the team continued to choose new spinners in home conditions despite having the seasoned veteran in the squad. Ashwin had only played a single game – the pink ball Test, in the initial three Tests of Border-Gavaskar Trophy – and he decided to withdraw midway through. Announcing his retirement through a joint press conference with captain Rohit Sharma following Brisbane Test said he would be returning home and wouldn’t feature in the final two matches of the series.

“Ashwin Was Insulted”: Says Manoj Tiwary

“Ashwin was insulted. See players like Washington Sundar and Tanush Kotian… they are all quality spinners and performed well in first-class cricket,” Tiwary told news agency PTI.

“But when you have a player of Ashwin’s calibre, what is the need for you to bring in Washington in the home series where Ashwin is there, Jadeja is there, and Kuldeep is there, and make him bowl more overs than Ashwin. Is that not an insult to Ashwin?” questioned Tiwary.

“This Is Not The Right Process”

“Will he just carry on, after giving so many match-winning performances? He will not come and say that because he is a nice guy,” Manoj Tiwary said.

“But one day he will definitely come out and he will share his experience. This is not the right process. They are also players, and they also need some patting on the back and dignity as well,” Tiwary concluded.
