Concerns were leveled against India's relatively easy fixture because of less travelling, particularly when placed side by side with teams such as New Zealand and South Africa.

Varun Chakaravarthy emerged as India’s key spinner in Champions Trophy 2025 as he played a significant role bowling consistently and troubling batters. His standout performances included a vital 2/45 in Champions Trophy final against New Zealand. Even though Varun Chakaravarthy is perceived as calm and composed, he took a subtle dig at the critics who argues that India has an unfair advantage because all of its matches were in Dubai, this included no travel.

Scheduling Controversy Sparks Debate

Concerns were leveled against India’s relatively easy fixture because of less travelling, particularly when placed side by side with teams such as New Zealand and South Africa. The Kiwis had to undertake constant traveling, going from Pakistan to Dubai to play their group match against India, back to Lahore for their semifinal match against South Africa, and then flying yet again to Dubai to play the final. While that, South Africa’s schedule was significantly disrupted, to travel unexpectedly for their semifinal to Dubai out of last-minute uncertainty before they flew directly to Lahore.

Having disposed of the group stage with relative ease and securing a semifinal win against Australia, they finalized the title victory with a domination in the final.
