Sanju Samson Struggles To Score – One Mistake That Cost Him In T20I Series Against England

India registered a clinical win against England and sealed the series in their favour, now the team will be aiming to take on England strongly in the upcoming ODI series.

Sanju Samson’s fight against pace continued as it reached Sunday, February 2, when India was set to face England in a 5-match T20I series. The batter once more lost early in his innings this time to a short ball-which marked the fifth match to come up in succession.

Throughout the series, Samson failed to handle the short-pitched deliveries from Jofra Archer and Mark Wood. While he did showcase glimpses of his potential-the six off the first ball of Archer being the most notable – consistency eluded him. The scores of 26, 5, 3, 1, and 16 speak of his continuous battle with the pace attack and how he wasn’t as sound against South Africa in his last T20I stint with India.

On Sunday, after striking Archer for a six, Samson attempted the same shot and was unable to convert. This time, in his second effort, he made the same mistake that had gone against him in the entire series: stepping back from the line of the ball to make room, which sent him walking back to the dressing room. He gifted a catch to Archer at deep fine leg off Mark Wood’s delivery in the second over of the match.
