Williamson scripted history and became the second-fastest player ever to reach 7000 runs in ODIs. The 34-year old batter surpassed India ‘s great Virat Kohli and achieved the milestone in 159th innings of his 167th ODI. While Virat Kohli reached 7000 runs in 161st inning of his 169th match.
Kane Williamson now stands as the fastest player after Hashim Amla to score 7000 ODI runs.

While Williamson’s achievement is remarkable, the world record for the fastest to 7000 ODI runs is still held by former South African batter Hashim Amla. Amla achieved this feat in the 150th innings of his 153rd match. Before Williamson, Martin Guptill was the fastest Kiwi to reach 7000 ODI runs, doing so in the 186th innings of his 189th match.
Williamson has been in exceptional form and as the Champions Trophy approaches his form will provide a big boost to New Zealand.
