The New Zealand team is all set for its new assignment – the T20 Tri-Series to be held in Zimbabwe. Along with the hosts, Zimbabwe, South Africa will also be participating in this series. When the Kiwi squad was announced, the absence of several star players surprised many fans. Mitchell Santner has been appointed as the captain for this series. Under his leadership, Adam Milne and Matt Henry have made a return to the team.
The squad also features the relatively untested batsman Bevon Jacobs, who was not part of the previous series against Sri Lanka.
Let’s take a look at the five star players who are missing from the Kiwi squad for this T20 Tri-Series:
Kane Williamson
The veteran batter has withdrawn from the series. Williamson is currently playing county cricket for Middlesex. He has scored 2,575 runs in 93 T20 internationals. His absence will certainly be felt by the team.
Ben Sears
The 27-year-old pace bowler is unavailable due to injury. He is suffering from a side strain. Since his debut, Sears has impressed with his pace and consistency, taking 22 wickets in 20 matches. His speed often troubles batters, making his absence notable.
Lockie Ferguson
Famous worldwide for his express pace, Ferguson has not been included in the squad as part of workload management. He has taken 64 wickets in 43 T20 internationals and is a key player in New Zealand’s bowling attack.

Kyle Jamieson
Known for his speed and accurate line and length, Jamieson is unavailable for this tour as he is about to become a father for the first time. He is spending time with his family during this special moment.
Devon Conway
Conway has been left out of the squad. He recently declined a central contract, which is believed to be the reason for his exclusion. In his place, Tim Seifert has been selected as the wicketkeeper.
