England Pacer Jofra Archer Left Out Due To THIS Reason

England’s star pacer Jofra Archer has notably been left out, he has previously played for Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians, but in a recent report by Cricbuzz, the decision to exclude Archer from the auction list stems from his unavailability for the 2025 IPL season.

The ECB apparently wants to prioritize Archer’s fitness for the upcoming Tests next summer, as it was reported. Archer has had fitness issues in the past and will not take part in the IPL 2025 auction, ensuring that he will be fit enough for the high-profile test series the following year. England will host India in a five-Test series, with the first Test at Leeds on June 20, 2025. The remaining four will take place at Birmingham, Lord’s, Manchester, and The Oval in July and August.

Archer’s fitness has been a concern recently. The ECB wants him to be fully fit for the Test series and not risk his availability in the IPL. The 29-year-old pacer has missed both seasons of the 2022 and 2024 of the Indian Premier League because of injuries. Even though he was part of the Mumbai Indians for the 2023 season, Archer’s season was a premature one as well, as he only played a few matches due to further setbacks.

Archer’s IPL Career

Jofra Archer had played his first IPL season in 2018 with Rajasthan Royals. He had made waves there with his quick pace and match-winning performances. In the 2022 mega auction of IPL, Archer was with Mumbai Indians, but had appeared very limitedly due to issues pertaining to fitness. Arshar has a total of 40 IPL matches under his belt and has taken 48 wickets with an economy of 7.43. He perhaps enjoyed his most successful IPL season in 2020 when he won the Most Valuable Player award at the end of the UAE tournament after taking 20 wickets in 14 games.
