IND Vs AUS: Rohit Sharma UNCERTAIN For Melbourne Test? Report Claims Big INJURY SCARE For Team India

The team would hope Rohit Sharma would recover from the injury quickly enough to go on and bat as well as captain in the subsequent Boxing Day Test.

Team India skipper Rohit Sharma, was hit on the left knee during practice at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Sunday. The incident happened as Rohit was facing Daya, the throwdown specialist, during the net practice session of the team.

Injury Concerns For Rohit Sharma

The 37-year-old was continuing to bat after he was hit by that ball, but later went inside seeking treatment from the team physio. According to a report from Times of India, after a brief stint, Rohit shed off his gear to be given some treatment. The ice pack was applied on the knee and his left leg was put on the chair by the physio to ease out the pain. Rohit was visibly in discomfort despite continuing to train for a while, and that raises questions about his fitness ahead of the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which is currently tied at 1-1.

Pressure Ahead Of Boxing Day Test

With four days to go for the Boxing Day Test, India’s team management would be hoping that Rohit’s injury is not a major one. He may hold the key for India as the pressure increases to have a good show in this match after India was put to the draw in the last two Tests.

Training Session Of Indian Players And Updates

This is the second training day for Team India ahead of the Boxing Day Test where everybody, including Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah, were seen in action during the drills, despite the scare from injuries. Rohit Sharma might have been under the spot, but he wasn’t the only one; rather, Kohli and Bumrah have been busy working on their game’s different aspects.

Rohit’s Recent Form Under Scrutiny

Rohit Sharma has been a cause of worry for Team India with the bat lately. The skipper has failed to get going, with his last five Tests being disappointing. He was unavailable for the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Perth, which India won by 295 runs under Bumrah’s leadership. Rohit returned for the next two Tests in Adelaide and Brisbane but his batting contribution was below par.

Rohit scored mere 3 and 6 at Adelaide before managing only 10 runs in the first innings of Gabba Test. This made him worst after Indians on first-innings average for the series played so far in 2024-25.

Rohit Sharma Remains Confident Despite Tough Challenges

After the draw at the Gabba, Rohit accepted the underwhelming performances but assured everyone that he was ready to bounce back. Even when his form was going nowhere, he was a sure starter for India, and the team would hope he would recover from his knee injury quickly enough to go on and bat as well as captain in the subsequent Boxing Day Test.
