The BCCI has fined Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya and Gujarat Titans coach Ashish Nehra for breaches of the IPL Code of Conduct in their thriller game at the Wankhede Stadium.
Hardik Pandya was fined INR 24 lakh because it was Mumbai Indians second slow-over rate offence in IPL 2025. The other team members, including the concussion substitute and impact player, were fined INR 6 lakh or 25% of their match fee whichever was less. Nehra, on the other hand, was penalized for unsporting behavior and against the game’s spirit. The details were not completely revealed but Ashish Nehra was seen arguing with the umpires after rain disrupted the match. He pleaded guilty to the Level 1 breach of Article 2.20 of the Code and was fined 25% of his match fee along with one demerit point.

In the match, Gujarat Titans kept their cool in a rain-interrupted thriller, chasing down a new target of 147 in 19 overs and winning off the last ball to secure a place at top the points table.

He admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.20 – which pertains to conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game – and accepted the match referee’s sanction.” For Level 1 breaches, the match referee’s decision is final and binding.
