DC wrapped up their IPL 2025 season by winning their match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six wickets at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur on May 24. Shreyas Iyer’s fifty helped PBKS end with a score of 206/8. Meanwhile, Sameer Rizvi scored 58 runs in just 25 balls to guide DC to the win with a final six. After the match, Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer admitted what when wrong for his team.
“207 was a fantastic score on this wicket. There was some variable bounce and it wasn’t coming on at the same pace. We weren’t disciplined enough with ball. We assessed the wicket and decided to bowl hard lengths at the stumps, but we went overboard with bouncers trying to take wickets. Every team is equally poised in this tournament, you gotta stay positive and calm. We’ll come back with a strong set of plans. No issues with the body, just the finger, should be fine for the next game.”
After this result, PBKS’ chances of making the top two took a blow, leaving them at 17 points from 13 matches ahead of their last game. Worth mentioning is that Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Mumbai Indians have all collected 18, 17, and 16 points so far and could go to the top two if they win their remaining games. PBKS will play against Mumbai Indians (MI) on May 26.
Delhi Capitals chased a target of 207 with Sameer Rizvi hitting his maiden IPL half-century. Even though PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer also scored a fifty but he ended up in the losing side and the next match is definitely a must win for Punjab in order to stay in top 2.
