Delhi Capitals played against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Arun Jaitley Stadim, Delhi and faced another defeat. The victory ensured that the playoffs hope were still alive for KKR. Batting first KKR had set a massive total of 204/9, Angkrish Raghuvanshi (44) and Rinku Singh (36) were the top scorers for the Knight Riders. DC on the other hand got a rocky start with Abhishek Porel losing early wicket. Faf du Plessis (62), Axar Patel (43) and Vipraj Nigam (38) were the top batters for Delhi but still DC couldn’t register a win as they fell short of 14 runs.
Mitchelll Starc (3 wickets), Vipraj Nigam (2 wickets) and Axar Patel (2 wickets) were the top bowlers from Delhi. After the match DC skipper Axar Patel reflected on the defeat and admitted what went wrong in the match.
“The way we bowled in the powerplay, thought we gave 15-20 too many. in the chase, there were some miscalculations and soft dismissals. The way we restricted them after the powerplay was good. The way we batted, even if two-three batters did well, we lost by very little. When you lose close matches, you know you have to be calm in the middle. When Vipraj was scoring runs, we had hopes. If Ashutosh would have stayed, it would have helped. Luck sometimes works in your favour and sometimes against. [Hand] My hand dragged on the surface, so the skin peeled off. So whenever I tried batting, it was paining. We have three-four days gap before SRH game, so I hope to recover.”
