Border-Gavaskar Trophy: BIG Setback For Australia As Cameron Green Gets Ruled Out Due To THIS Reason

Cameron Green has been ruled out of the prestigious Border-Gavaskar Trophy which will be starting from November 22.

A massive setback struck Australia as Cameron Green is ruled out from the Border-Gavaskar series. The All-rounder who was scheduled to undergo surgery for another fifth stress fracture in his lower back will be out of action for at least six months. With long set of discussions taking place with the Cricket Australia medical team a crucial decision was taken that Cameron Green will be undergoing the surgery, which emanates from the initial injury he suffered in the UK last September.

Cameron Green To Undergo Surgery

Green, like James Pattinson, Jason Behrendorff, Ben Dwarshuis, and New Zealand bowlers Shane Bond and Matt Henry, will follow a sort of recovery protocol – which entails the insertion of screws and a titanium cable into his lower back to stabilise the stress fracture and mitigate future complications. Although Cricket Australia believes that he would still be able to return in six months’ time, he is going to spend at least nine months recovering. He would then go on to miss the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Sri Lanka tour, and the Champions Trophy. There is, however, hope that he will be fit in time for the IPL, the World Test Championship final in June if Australia qualifies and the Test series in the West Indies in June-July next year.

“Cam has a unique defect in an adjacent area to the fracture that is believed to be contributing to the injury.” said Cricket Australia in a statement
