Ajinkya Rahane, Kolkata Knight Riders’ skipper, will be seen by the medical staff of the team on Wednesday to assess the degree of a hand injury suffered while his side was winning by 14 runs against the Delhi Capitals. It happened when Rahane was in the field at short cover and Faf du Plessis smashed a hard-earned shot from Andre Russell, hitting him on the right hand.

The ball rebounded from Rahane’s hand and moved towards mid-off for a single, but the skipper was in evident pain and left the field at once to get himself treated. He did not reappear for the rest of the game and was subsequently spotted with heavy strapping on his hand.
