There might be a huge boost for England as the game may see a possible comeback of the star pacer Jofra Archer in the English Test set up. The 30-year old has been included by English County side Sussex to face Durham in their next game. It should be mentioned that Archer played his last game with Sussex already in May 2021; nevertheless, a dozen injuries and several surgeries continued to postpone his comeback.

Nevertheless, Archer has returned to play international cricket in limited overs then; since he was a member of the side in the Champions Trophy 2025. Luke Wright, the England selector recently emerged and said that in case Archer can compete in Sussex, then it is possible that he may play against India in the second Test of the ongoing series.

“He’s obviously had a horrific time with injuries, but he’s had some good amount of cricket, albeit in the white-ball formats. It’s really exciting for England, but also more exciting for Jof that he’s in a position now where we’re able to have a plan in place and hopefully he gets through something to actually be considered for selection for Test cricket,” Wright was quoted as saying by Sportstar.
Archer might be called for the 2nd Test
Talking of the first two days of the first Test of the ongoing series between England and India, the Indian team has dominated the series. When it was India’s turn to come out to bat, Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Rishabh Pant all scored centuries and led the Indian team to make 471 runs during the first innings of the game.
The bowlers of England did not do well in the two days. Ben Stokes and Josh Tongue worked hard taking 4 wickets each in the first innings. Providing that Archer is able to reclaim his spot in the team in the second game of the series, it will represent a massive boost to the hosts.
