The way MI lost to PBKS during IPL 2025 qualifier 2 has attracted interst beyond just on-field discussions. After PBKS won by chasing 204 run in their innings with seven wickets in hand, five-time title holders were knocked out at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Responding to a question on his YouTube channel, Harbhajan was very clear about his feelings. He was very critical of how Jayawardene and Malinga kept micromanaging the players, especially when MI bowlers were giving up too many runs.
Harbhajan Singh’s Statement
“Look at the Mumbai Indians dugout. When they were leaking runs, there was way too much involvement from the outside. Coaches are telling a bowler like Bumrah what to do and what not. A dressing room needs to remain calm and composed. Coaches should only give advice. Don’t show desperation. So somewhere I felt that when this happens way too much, it breaks their spirit,” Harbhajan said.
What Happened In MI Vs PBKS Match
Under the guidance of Shreyas Iyer, PBKS finished the chase and secured the win by five wickets over MI to make it to the IPL 2025 final, where they will meet Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Thanks to Shreyas’s undefeated 87 runs, PBKS reached the total with an extra over to spare. Josh Inglis started the run by scoring 20 runs in Bumrah’s over. During their partnership, Nehal Wadhera also got 48 (29), with Shreyas providing support. At the beginning of their innings, Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav both made 44 runs, helping Mumbai Indians score 203 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. Their partnership of 72 runs for the third wicket made a strong start for MI. Naman Dhir’s fast innings paved the way for MI to score more than 200 runs as they hunted for a good score in reply to the CSK total.
