Sandeep Sharma to Dhoni, out Caught by Hetmyer!! A stunning catch from Shimron to burst the bubble for CSK. Dhoni is shocked, the stadium is silent - need I remind you this is a home game for Rajasthan. The former CSK skipper walks back slowly as the RR players celebrate. A low wide full toss from Sandeep.
The Super Kings were terribly off-colour when they went up against RCB couple of days ago. The game was perhaps lost due to their poor fielding. Plenty of chances went begging and they ended up conceding a total that was well above par. Their batting too has been a cause for concern. Their top four, consisting of Rachin Ravindra, Rahul Tripathi, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Deepak Hooda, seems to lack a bit of substance, particularly with the skipper himself not being in the best of form. That Sam Curran hasn’t quite been able to make an impact, with either bat or ball, might instigate a change or two as they’ll have an eye on bolstering their batting. Now on the road, it’ll also be interesting to to see if CSK stick to playing three front-line spinners.
The Rajasthan Royals, having fared quite poorly in both their games so far, will be extremely keen to get their campaign off the ground. Their bowlers took an absolute battering in their first game against SRH while the batters faltered in their game against KKR. With Jofra Archer terribly out of rhythm, they’ll hope their Sri Lankan spin-duo of Hasaranga and Theekshana can give their bowling attack some venom. They’ll also be banking on their Indian core of Jaiswal, Samson and Parag to set the stage with the bat as they haven’t got the deepest batting line-up.

Tushar Deshpande to Dhoni, SIX, slower delivery outside off that was a bit of a half volley. Dhoni reads it well and slams it down the ground to the left of long-on. Gets it slightly off the toe-end but has the muscle to send it all the way!
Theekshana to Jadeja, 1 run, solid wide yorker from Theekshana. Nothing Jadeja can do but stab it into the ground towards covers
Hasaranga to Gaikwad, out Caught by Jaiswal!! Out next ball!! Wanindu is weaving his magic here in the IPL. That's why he's the guy with the hefty price tag, that's why he's one of the most in demand players in the world of franchise cricket, because this spinner can truly turn games.
Hasaranga to Gaikwad, SIX, take that!! Another googly and Ruturaj anticipated that.
Tushar Deshpande to Jadeja, 2 runs, short and angling outside off, pulled into the ground and towards deep mid-wicket
Theekshana to Gaikwad, 2 runs, good length and looked like the carrom ball. Gaikwad stays back and punches it to the right of long-on. 50 for Ruturaj, no real celebration from the skipper as the crowd claps on his achievement.
Hasaranga to Shankar, out Bowled!! Now that's how a world class spinner responds!! Bowls a loopy delivery again, but this time shortens the length quite a bit. Shankar is lunging forward but still can't get anywhere close to the ball, and looks a bit foolish for committing to the front foot. Looks even more silly when the ball turns out to be the googly that sneaks between bat and pad, to knock down the stumps. Wanindu Hasaranga is turning the tide here through the middle overs, just what RR would have envisioned during the auctions.
Kartikeya to Gaikwad, FOUR, short and spinning away, anticipated by Gaikwad who flat bats it across the line to the right of deep mid-wicket for a boundary
Hasaranga to Shivam Dube, out Caught by Riyan Parag!! You beauty! A catch and a half from Riyan Parag, who extends his hands and soaks in the applause as he runs around, waiting for the closest teammates to catch up to him. The home boy has produced a moment of magic that will cherished by the whole of Assam for months of end! A full delivery that was fired through outside off, Dube drills his drive to the right of extra cover.
Hasaranga to Shivam Dube, SIX, tossed up at the stumps and Shivam Dube needs no second invite. Gets under that delivery and lifts it effortlessly over long-on for a maximum. Hasaranga holds a hand of apology towards his skipper who is giving him a disappointed look
Sandeep Sharma to Gaikwad, FOUR, another freebie! Tried the yorker but bowled a low full toss. Thank you very much says Rutu as he saw fine leg up and just glanced it fine to the left of the man at 45
Jofra Archer to Tripathi, SIX, pace off on this short ball and Tripathi was ready for it, again moving inside the line. It's a tricky thing to bowl full pace beacuse the edge will just fly miles over the rope. So Jofra thought of taking pace off for the top edge but Tripathi managed to get enough bat on it to easily clear fine leg
Tushar Deshpande to Tripathi, FOUR, now he's got inside the line to try and help the pull away fine. Gloves it, Jofra dives at short fine leg but it escapes to his right
Jofra Archer to Tripathi, no run, big appeal for caught behind. Of course it's the bouncer and they don't review. The keeper and the bowler were confident. Jofra going for the killer leg-side
Tushar Deshpande to Gaikwad, 2 runs, uppish cover drive but the man at cover got a hand on it! Full delivery just a hint of away swing, Rutu eases the drive and gets two
Jofra Archer to Ravindra, out Caught by Dhruv Jurel!! This was on the cards. He was never connecting those away-going balls. Jofra was only trying to move everything away from Rachin and offered nothing full. Rachin kept staying leg-side and trying to cut/guide with the swing. Missed twice but Jofra's got him on the third attempt. Healthy outside edge and Jurel pouches it neat and Jofra has his first wicket of the IPL. RR have made a massive statement here. They have got a form batter out for CSK. The one batter who was able to score in both games.
Jofra Archer to Ravindra, no run, short of length delivery, Rachin stands tall and defends
Pathirana to Tushar Deshpande, byes, 1 run, Tushar looks to scoop and misses, Dhoni fires the underarm and misses the stumps
Pathirana to Hetmyer, out Caught by Ashwin!! In the airrr, Ashwin is back-pedalling from cover. This is a toughie but he's held on to it and controlled the catch despite landing
Khaleel Ahmed to Hetmyer, out Kartikeya Run Out!! Well done Khaleel Ahmed. He had the presence of mind to not really have a hard shy at the stumps and miss. Firstly was a stunner of a yorker, Hety just dug it out. The run wasn't on because the batter had no chance of taking off quickly but Kartikeya had run past the batter already. Hety reacted. Khaleel rushed forward and took the ball, ran all the way to the stumps and took the stumps out with the ball in his hands Kartikeya run out (Khaleel Ahmed) 1(1)
Khaleel Ahmed to Hetmyer, SIX, he is the dangerman now! Khaleel Ahmed missed the yorker, Hety got under it and powered it so high over deep square leg. Clears the ropes easily
Pathirana to Riyan Parag, out Bowled!! That is a pin-point off stump yorker than can't get any better. Gee, look at it hit the absolute base of off stump. Tough to keep those out and Riyan Parag tried to swing across the line and misse
Pathirana to Hetmyer, FOUR, oh inside edge escapes for four!
Jadeja to Hasaranga, out Caught by Shankar at deep mid-wicket!! In the airrrrr, Vijay Shankar has taken a stunner diving forward. The other day against RCB they were awful, today they've take two very good catches. But they will check if this is a clean catch. The third ump wants a look from the front. Satisfied says the third ump. Outstanding from VS but it's yet another disappointment with the bat from Hasaranga.
Noor Ahmad to Hasaranga, 1 run, full googly, Hasaranga uppishly pushes it to long-off
Noor Ahmad to Dhruv Jurel, out Caught by Pathirana!! In the airrrr, Pathirana has dived forward and taken it. He claims the catch and Dhruv Jurel has no problems with it either. This is a big wicket for CSK. Dhruv Jurel can be a real dangerman. RR in no mood to see off threats. They want to attack every bowler. Dhruv went for a booming lofted drive over cover the moment he saw this being overpitched/ The ball turned away and took a thick edge.
Ashwin to Nitish Rana, wide, out Stumped!! Dhoni and Ashwin combine to remove Rana! This is trademark Ashwin, he fires it out wide outside off, Rana had committed to running down the pitch and he's stranded after failing to reach it, Dhoni gathers and does what he does best.
Pathirana to Riyan Parag, 2 runs, short of length outside off, Riyan Parag hangs back and eases it out towards deep backward point for a couple
Noor Ahmad to Riyan Parag, 1 run, slower length delivery on middle, Riyan Parag watches it closely and eases it towards cover for a quick single
Noor Ahmad to Samson, out Caught by Ravindra at long-off!! And he's struck straightaway! The partnership has been broken and CSK can probably just breathe a little sigh of relief. Very full and just outside off, was darted in and Samson cleared his front-leg looking to skew it over long-off, couldn't quite get the elevation and he holed out to Ravindra who was stationed there. Simple enough catch and Samson departs.
Ashwin to Nitish Rana, no run, he can, a quick and tidy over from Ashwin, just what CSK needed.
Khaleel Ahmed to Nitish Rana, FOUR, terrific shot to bring up fifty for Nitish Rana! He celebrates with a cradling-gesture and blows a kiss to someone in the crowd, short of length outside off, Nitish Rana hangs back and slaps it up and over backward point
Ashwin to Nitish Rana, SIX, nearly an action replay! Ashwin gives this a bit more air but its the same result, Nitish Rana leans across and sweeps it uppishly to clear the deep backward square leg ropes
Jamie Overton to Nitish Rana, FOUR, a boundary to finish the previous over and one to start this! Banged in halfway down the track, Nitish Rana gets inside the line, uses the pace and angle to help it over fine-leg who was in the ring
Khaleel Ahmed to Jaiswal, out Caught by Ashwin!! Gone this time! Khaleel is absolutely pumped! Soft-dismissal for Jaiswal, he stands there for a second with a dejected look on his face before dragging himself off. This surface isn't true and Jaiswal learns the hard way. Good length delivery just outside off, Jaiswal looks to punch it off the backfoot but is through his shot a fraction too early, he ends up chipping it straight to Ashwin at mid-off and he makes no mistake.
Khaleel Ahmed to Jaiswal, FOUR, to sweeper cover
CSK won the toss opted to bowl first
