But we understood in January that his moment at the club was not good, so Manchester United also understood that leaving on loan was the best way for Antony to recover his best form.” With only one league goal since April 2023, Antony has scored only 12 times in 96 Man United games under contract till 2027 and earning £120,000 per week. Pedroso told GiveMeSport also that although Premier League and Saudi teams were interested, Antony chose Real Betis as “the ideal destination.”

Junior Pedroso said that Antony choose a transfer to Real Betis over chances to stay in the Premier League. He stated that “I can tell you that clubs from England also wanted Antony, he had the chance to stay in the Premier League, but we preferred Real Betis,” Pedroso also talked about the interest from Saudi Pro League clubs but highlighted that “Spain was the best possible for the player.” He said that Spanish football helps Anthony strengthen his skills as well as gives him the freedom to really use his attacking ability. Though Real Betis’ loan arrangement lacks a purchase clause, team CEO Ramón Alarcón suggested a possible long-term transfer. Chatting to Radio Sevilla of Cadena Ser, he verified talks with Man United.“ There is very good chemistry with Manchester [United] and with the player.
