Afghanistan Pacer Takes A Dig At Rohit Sharma, Reacts To 2nd Super Over Controversy

Another Afghanistan player has responded to the 2nd Super Over controversy which took place in IND vs AFG 3rd T20I

The third T20I between India and Afghanistan turned into a thrilling contest with two Super Overs, marking the first instance in international cricket. However, controversy arose as India captain Rohit Sharma, who had retired out or hurt in the first Super Over, returned to bat in the second. While no formal complaints were made during the match, Afghanistan’s Karim Janat has expressed the opinion that Rohit should not have been allowed to bat again. The debate intensified as Rohit came back to the crease after the first Super Over concluded in a tie with India needing 2 runs to win and just one ball remaining.

“We didn’t know much about that. Our management talked to the umpires. Rohit came out to bat, but we learned later that he shouldn’t have been allowed to do that. Even if you were retired out, you can’t come to bat again. We can’t do much about it now because what’s happened has happened. The captain and coach discussed about it later, but it was all between them,” Janat said in an interview.

According to the rules, if Rohit Sharma was retired out, he should not have been allowed to return, but if he was retired hurt, he would have been eligible to bat again. Following the match, Afghanistan coach Jonathan Trott admitted to being unaware of Rohit’s situation during the game.

“I have no idea (whether Rohit retired hurt or out). Has there ever been two Super Overs? That’s what I am trying to say. We keep setting these new rules. What I am trying to say is we kept testing the rules, we kept testing the guidelines,” Trott had said in the post-match press meet.
