To date, 2025 has been an incredible year for WWE. The company has had fans sitting on the edge of their seats in perpetual suspense and massive surprises. Globally, outside America, Triple H and his crew have also drawn so much acclaim. John Cena’s retirement tour being on, the fans are very invested. A number of superstars have been given huge pushes in the year, and the surprises have not ended. Let’s have a glance at six primary roster WWE superstars who have already created history in 2025.
John Cena Makes History
John Cena turned heel and surprised fans at Elimination Chamber 2025 against Cody Rhodes. Cena emerged victorious in the chamber match and earned himself a spot in the Undisputed WWE Championship match at WrestleMania 41. The fight between Cena and Cody was fierce, and Cena eventually emerged victorious to reclaim the championship.
With this victory, Cena turned into a 17-time world champion, surpassing the record of Ric Flair. This is something he had been pursuing for years, and WWE awarded him this historic victory as a part of his retirement tour. Now residing at the pinnacle, Cena’s legacy is more unbreakable than ever before.
Jey Uso, Jacob Fatu, and Dominik Mysterio Shine at WrestleMania 41
WrestleMania 41 was a night to remember for many. Jey Uso defeated Gunther in an exciting match to become the World Heavyweight Champion — his first world title victory in his 15-year career.
Jacob Fatu also made a big impression by beating LA Knight for the United States Championship — his first title on the main roster. Dominik Mysterio, in turn, had a huge impact with Penta, Finn Bálor, and Bron Breakker being defeated by him to win the Intercontinental Championship. It was Dominik’s first big singles title on the main roster — a testament to his improving over the past few years.
CM Punk Fulfills His Dream
CM Punk’s return to WWE in 2023 was a big deal, and he’s been making waves ever since. Although he had already done a lot of things, one thing never came his way: headlining WrestleMania.
That happened at WrestleMania 41 Night 1, when Punk was involved in the main event — a Triple Threat. Even though he lost (thanks to betrayal by Paul Heyman, who joined forces with Roman Reigns), Punk still achieved history by finally making it to the WrestleMania main event — something that he had long stated as a career aspiration.
Lyra Valkyria Makes Championship History
Lyra Valkyria caused shockwaves at the beginning of 2025 when she became the first-ever WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion. She beat Dakota Kai in the final of the tournament on a Raw episode, making history.
Her momentum carried over into WrestleMania 41, where she partnered with Becky Lynch to capture the Women’s Tag Team Championships. Their reign was brief, though, as they lost the titles to Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez on the next episode of Raw.
These six superstars have turned 2025 into a historic year in WWE, with memories that will last for decades to come.
