India will be playing a five-match Test series against England, with the first Test starting from June 20, and it will be held at Headingley. With Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli now retired, Shubman Gill has taken charge as the new captain of India, with Rishabh Pant as his deputy. Both sides will be looking forward to a win as this series also marks the start of the new WTC cycle of 2025-27 for both teams. IPL 2025 highest run scorer and Orange cap holder Sai Sudarshan has been presented with the debut cap by Cheteshwar Pujara. 20th June seems to be the national day for debuts in Test cricket.

20th June – Day Of Debutants
In 1996, Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly made their debuts. Dravid became one of India’s best Test batsmen, known for his strong technique and calm batting. Ganguly, who later became the Indian captain, was known for his fearless style and strong leadership. Both players started their careers at Lord’s in England.
In 2011, three more players made their Test debuts on June 20th. Abhinav Mukund was an opening batsman who played a few matches for India. Praveen Kumar was a swing bowler who performed well, especially in English conditions. Virat Kohli, who also debuted that day, went on to become one of the greatest batsmen in the world and a successful captain.
India Vs England 1st Test
The first Test of the India-England Test series commenced today at Leeds, where England won the toss and opted to bowl first. India’s opening pair at Leeds, with young Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul, gave India a decent start by surviving the deadly bowling attack of the English contingent before KL Rahul was dismissed by Brydon Carse on 42 runs.
