The Uttarakhand Police conducted a massive raid in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly early on March 10. With 300 police personnel, the Udham Singh Nagar Police conducted search operations in the Fatehganj West area. The raids were carried out to locate drugs and drug dealers.
The Uttarakhand Police did not inform the Uttar Pradesh police about the raids. SSP Bareilly said that the local police were not informed, but a patrol officer helped the Uttarakhand Police on the spot. Of the 15 people detained, 14 had no criminal history, the Times of India reported.
A video of the Uttarakhand police emerged later on social media. In the video clip, Udham Singh Nagar SSP Manikant Mishra is seen briefing police officials and personnel. The police raided places in search of drug trafficker Kallu don, and jailed drug dealer Rifaqat Ali.
A senior Uttarakhand police officer said that the drug dealers turned the hill state into a drug hub, and they would continue their effort to curtail such offenses.
The Bareilly SSP said they informed the chief minister and the DGP about the raids. He added that the raids could have created unrest in the area.
