After the passing of Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2024 in both Houses of Parliament, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was the first CM to act on the bill. He had made it clear on several occasions that the state government will act on the bill passed by the parliament. Will he reclaim the lands occupied by the Waqf across the State? If the state reclaims those lands what will be done with the land? Here are his plans for the Waqf-occupied land.
In Maharajganj, Yogi Adityanath accused the Waqf Board of illegally occupying lakhs of acres of land. He alleged that it had become a tool for looting people across the state. He warned that the government would completely stop the practice of seizing land in the name of Waqf going forward. Authorities will reclaim these lands. They will not allow anyone to encroach upon Waqf Board property or public land, including intersections. The government will now use all such public land to build schools, hospitals, colleges, and medical institutions.
