Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Anant Ambani’s Jamnagar Wildlife Centre turned into a visual spectacle as he shared a video of the experience. The PM posed with nearly all the wild animals present at the facility. He was at Reliance Foundation’s Vantara in Jamnagar, Gujarat, on Tuesday to inaugurate the Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre. Accompanied by Anant Ambani, director on the boards of RIL and Reliance Foundation, PM Modi took a tour of the sprawling facility.

About Anant’s Vantara
Vantara is an ambitious wildlife preservation project founded by Anant Ambani. The venture is supported by Reliance Industries and Reliance Foundation. The Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre is Situated within the Jamnagar Refinery Complex in Gujarat. Spread across 3,000 acres, Vantara is a sanctuary dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating abused, injured, and endangered animals. Designed as a comprehensive rehabilitation center, it provides a safe, natural, and nurturing environment for its inhabitants. More than 2,000 animals from 43 species, such as elephants, leopards, lions, tigers, and reptiles, have been rescued and housed at Vantara.

During his visit to Vantara, PM Modi observed various rehabilitation and medical procedures aimed at animal welfare. He watched an Asiatic lion undergo an MRI scan in the hospital’s advanced imaging facility and witnessed a life-saving surgery performed on a leopard rescued from a highway accident. He also visited hydrotherapy pools designed to aid elephants suffering from arthritis, helping improve their recovery and mobility. Vantara’s rehabilitation efforts focus on restoring animals to the wild whenever possible, ensuring a long-term conservation strategy.
Is The Wild Life Open To Public?
Despite its official inauguration on February 26, 2024, the facility is not yet open to the public. According to reports, Anant Ambani has stated that it will be accessible to visitors soon, though no specific dates have been announced. Therefore, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has not yet disclosed the entry fee. The initiative aims to develop a state-of-the-art conservation program that not only shelters animals but also educates the public on wildlife conservation.

Vantara has world-class facilities that replicate the natural habitats of the residents.
Specialized Care Facilities for Elephants: A 600-acre facility has been designed to resemble a natural forest environment for elephants, featuring a large elephant jacuzzi for arthritis treatment and a specialized Elephant Hospital equipped with hyperbaric oxygen chambers and laser therapy machines.
Healthcare: Unlike other wildlife sanctuaries, Vantara features a state-of-the-art 1 lakh sq. ft. hospital and medical research center equipped with advanced facilities, including MRI, X-ray, ICU, CT scan, and video conferencing for surgeries.
Vantara’s animal enclosures are thoughtfully designed to include natural ponds, hydrotherapy pools, and various water bodies, ensuring a habitat that promotes animal well-being. The initiative also collaborates with globally recognized wildlife experts and organizations to enhance conservation efforts.
