Raigad: 18 crew members were rescued by the Indian Coast Guard and Indian Navy after fishing boat caught fire around 3-4 am on Friday. The incident took place around 6-7 nautical miles off the coast of Akshi Alibaug in Raigad district of Maharashtra. The boat belonged to Rakesh Gan. Raigad SP informed that all the crew members have been rescued safely. Indian Coast Guard and Indian Navy initiated rescue operations upon receiving distress calls.
According to Indian Coast Guards, “Indian Coast Guard Ships (ICGS) SavitriBai Phule, on patrol off Mumbai, sighted IFB on fire in Position 190 Prongs Lt 21.” The ship responded to the situation and confirmed that all fishermen from the boat had embarked on another IFB in the area and were safe. The ship is engaged in FF ops.”
Videos of the incident show thick black smoke rising from the vessel. Another clip shows rescue operation carried by the Indian Coast Guard and Indian Navy.
