New Delhi: Thousands of people have gathered to celebrate the birthday of Karnataka’s former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. This marks the former CM’s 75th birthday. Keeping their excitements high, a huge sea of supporters gathered to greet him on his special day.
The excitement, however, resulted in a six-kilometer-long traffic jam on the Pune-Bengaluru highway. A mishap also occurred due to the gathering of such a crowd. One of the person who was a supporter of the former Karnataka CM, lost his life while trying to reach.

Siddaramaiah tweeted on the mishap, “I was shocked to hear the news that Prakash Badigere of Mudola taluk who was coming to Davangere for my birthday function died in a road accident. I am also involved in the mourning of deceased Prakash’s family.”

ಗಾಯಾಳುಗಳು ಶೀಘ್ರ ಗುಣಮುಖರಾಗಲಿ ಎಂದು ಹಾರೈಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.

The tweet reads, “I would like to appeal to those who come to Davangere by vehicles for my birthday function to drive carefully and not in undue haste. Your life is precious not only to us but also to the family that believes in you.”

Siddaramaiah was elected as Chief Minister after Congress adopted secret balloting to select the new chief minister. He led the Indian National Congress to victory by achieving an absolute majority of 122/224 seats in the 2013 Legislative Assembly election.
On 15 May 2018, he resigned from his position of the Chief minister of Karnataka, respecting the verdict of the 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election. He also became the first chief minister of Karnataka to serve full 5 years term in 40 years, and the second in the history of the southern state after Devaraj Urs.
