A Surat cop assaulted a 17-year-old boy after he mistakenly rode his cycle on a road where a rehearsal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s convoy was underway. The cop was on duty to ensure there are no security lapses during the PM’s visit on March 7.
The incident took place at Ratan Chowk. A video of the incident went viral on social media. In the video clip, sub-inspector BS Gadhvi was seen slapping and pulling his hair. Boy’s relatives and netizens have reacted to the video. A relative of the boy said he should be counselled by the cop instead of assaulting him.
A senior police officer said Gadhvi’s behaviour was “inappropriate” and “unacceptable”. The cop has been transferred to the control room from his current posting at Morbi police station.
The sub-inspector had gone to manage the rehearsal ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit.
