New Delhi: The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) is determined to proceed with its Braj Mandal Yatra on Monday, even after the Haryana police denied permission for the event. This decision follows the chaotic scenes during the previous yatra on July 31, organized by VHP, which resulted in a violent clash and the unfortunate loss of six lives.
A history of discord
The previous Braj Mandal Yatra on July 31 had plunged the region into turmoil, sparking communal clashes that spanned three days and reached neighboring districts, including Gurugram. However, VHP remains steadfast in its resolve and has announced plans to complete the interrupted Braj Mandal Jal Abhishek Yatra on August 28.
Defying denial
VHP is firm in its assertion that the yatra is a religious procession and does not necessitate permission from external authorities. Highlighting the concerns of Hindus in Mewat and across the nation, the VHP aims to fulfill the uncompleted yatra.
While urging Muslims to uphold the values of peaceful coexistence, the VHP also noted that a significant number of Muslims have expressed their willingness to participate in the yatra in Nuh. The district administration has reportedly been informed about these developments, according to VHP central joint secretary Surendra Kumar Jain.
Limited participation amidst G20 Summit preparations
In a calculated move, Jain revealed that the yatra would be limited to participants from Nuh, Gurugram, and Palwal. This decision is apparently in consideration of the upcoming G20 Summit.
However, Nuh’s Surendra Kumar Jain Narendra Bijarniya emphasized that only residents of the district would be permitted to partake in the rituals individually and perform Jalabhishek, adhering to their traditional practices.
Police denies permission for procession
In a contrasting stance, Haryana police adamantly declared that no permission has been granted for the Jalabhishek Yatra in Nuh. Citing the ongoing sensitivity of the situation in the Nuh district, police officials are wary of any potential flare-ups that could arise from the yatra.
As the clash of convictions continues between VHP’s determination and the authorities’ concerns, the upcoming Braj Mandal Yatra holds the potential to further ignite tensions or showcase unity amid diversity.
