UP News: Car Stuck On Railway Track As Train Approaches – What Happened Next? | VIDEO

The gatekeeper immediately informed the railway officials about the happening and without any delay they reached the place.

A major accident was averted on Saturday, October 5 when a car got stuck on the railway track at the Katra Shahbazpur crossing in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh.  A passenger train, Gorakhpur-Lucknow Intercity Express had to apply emergency brakes to stop in time. The car driver, in a hurry to reach a funeral, lost control of the vehicle and drove it onto the tracks. Railway officials sprang into action, and after an hour of attempts, the car was removed. Train movement resumed.

The car was moving in a hurry to cross the Katra Shahbazpur railway crossing by its driver, Ajay Singh. At the moment just when the gate was about to close, he lost control of his car’s steering which made his car cross over to the railway track crossing the tracks. Moving on the railway track for around 100 meters, his vehicle finally stopped.

Train Driver Applies Emergency Brake

Meanwhile, the Gorakhpur-Lucknow Intercity Express was crossing on the other track. The train driver had sighted the car from a distance and at once jammed the emergency brakes to stop the train just in time before the collision.

The gatekeeper Raj Kishore immediately informed the railway officials about the happening and without any delay they reached the place.

Car Removed And Traffic Resumes

Railway Protection Force inspector Ajmer Singh said that officials reached the spot and removed the car out from the track with the help of a crane. Rail traffic, suspended for almost an hour, resumed.
 In terms of traffic, the impact was also minor as it had caused a temporary jam near the crossing. But after car is removed the jam is cleared.

 Driver’s Urgency Is Blamed

Ajay Singh, the driver of the car, said that he was running late and wanted to reach his relative’s funeral rites and tried to cross the railway track without waiting for the full closure of the gate. Fortunately, no one got hurt, and they are investigating the issue so that such instances will not recur in the future.
