Udhampur Police Attaches Property of Terror Accused, Under UAPA at Basantgarh, worth lakhs.

The official said the piece of land is now restricted from being sold, leased, transferred or involved in any third-party transaction. This move is part of a broader crackdown by Jammu and Kashmir Police to disrupt terror funding channels

In a significant action under the Unlawful Activities Act 1967, Udhampur Police today attached immovable property  (land) bearing Khasra No. 232 linked to accused Mohd Shafiq S/O Nazir Ahmed R/O Kadwah who is presently under Judicial custody.

The attachment has been carried out under Section 25 of the UAPA in connection with Case FIR No. 23/2024 registered at Police Station Basantgarh under sections 18,19, and 39 of the UAPA. The said property has been identified during the investigation as being linked to terror-related activities.

As per the order executed by the Investigating Officer the said land has been officially attached and is now legally restricted from being sold/leased/ transferred or involved in any third-party transaction. Shafiq was arrested last year for his links with terrorists and a case under various sections of the UAPA stands registered against him at Basantgarh police station.

The official said the piece of land is now restricted from being sold, leased, transferred or involved in any third-party transaction. This move is part of a broader crackdown by Jammu and Kashmir Police to disrupt terror funding channels and logistical support in the region. The seized land, estimated to be worth several lakhs, will remain under legal restrictions while investigations continue.

Mohd Shafiq remains in judicial custody, and police officials suggest that more assets or individuals may surface as the inquiry progresses. Authorities remain focused on curbing terrorism financing and support systems operating within the region.

5-day remand for two arrested in Pahalgam terror attack case

The Jammu court on Monday granted the National Investigation Agency (NIA) a five-day remand of the two accused arrested earlier in connection with the ghastly Pahalgam terror attack case. The two accused, identified as Parvaiz Ahmad and Bashir Ahmed, were brought to a Jammu court, where the Additional District and Session Judge granted the NIA a five-day remand and set the next hearing date as June 27, 2025.

The NIA arrested the two individuals in connection with the Pahalgam terror attack case, officials said on Sunday. According to the officials, the two accused were identified as Parvaiz Ahmad and Bashir Ahmed and have been arrested for allegedly harbouring terrorists involved in the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam that claimed 26 civilian lives.
