Two Foreign Terrorists Linked To Gagengiar Terrorist Attack, Being Tracked By Forces: JK LG Sinha

The tragic loss included a doctor and six workers, with five others sustaining injuries during the assault.

In a chilling revelation following the recent Gagengiar terror attack that claimed the lives of seven individuals, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced that two foreign terrorists are suspected to be involved. The attack, which occurred at a tunnel-construction site in Ganderbal district, is believed to be a calculated effort to disrupt a vital supply route for the Indian Army in Ladakh.

The tragic incident unfolded on Sunday evening when the unidentified terrorists opened fire on a group of labourers and staff at their camp on the Z-Morh tunnel project, part of the larger Zojila tunnel initiative aimed at ensuring all-weather connectivity between Srinagar and Ladakh. This route is critical, especially during the harsh winter months when heavy snowfall often blocks access, jeopardizing supplies for both civilians and military personnel stationed in the region.

Sinha while speaking about the attack, said that initial investigations suggest the attackers, masked and armed, infiltrated from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) before taking refuge in Bandipora, North Kashmir. “They are being tracked and will be neutralised,” he asserted, emphasizing the commitment of police and security forces to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The tragic loss included a doctor and six workers, with five others sustaining injuries during the assault. Sinha condemned the attack as a heinous act targeting not just individuals but also a strategic project crucial for national security.

The Zojila tunnel project, once completed, promises to enhance connectivity and logistical support for armed forces stationed along the sensitive border with China, ensuring that essential supplies reach those in need without interruption.

As investigations continue, local authorities remain on high alert, determined to prevent further acts of violence. LG Manoj Sinha also visited the tunnel site project today and spoke to the officials and workers of the project.
