The incident happened late on Tuesday evening. Rescue teams worked hard to search for missing people.The police have recovered six bodies, including four women and two male children. However, they are still looking for the body of a missing child. Gwalior Inspector General Arvind Saxena said, “We are continuing the search for the child’s body, and further investigations are ongoing.”
Details of the Incident
The boat, carrying local villagers, capsized in the backwaters of the Matatila Dam. They were on their way to visit an old temple, Siddh Baba temple. According to Shivpuri Superintendent of Police Aman Singh Rathore, seven people were missing, including three women and four children. Eight people survived the accident. Rescue operations were carried out by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local divers, who resumed work on Wednesday morning.

Government Reactions And Inquiry
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed his sadness over the loss of lives and ordered an investigation. He said, “I express my condolences to the families of the seven people who lost their lives. We must all be careful when riding boats.”

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia also expressed his sorrow. He shared his condolences on social media and said he had spoken to local officials about the situation. Scindia mentioned that the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and SDRF teams were working on rescuing the missing people. He prayed for the safety of the missing devotees and strength for their families during this difficult time.
