Patra Chawl Scam: After taking the remand of Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut in the Patra Chawl scam, the ED on Wednesday said that they have recovered important documents related to the case in raids at two places in Mumbai.
According to news agency ANI, ED officials say that they have come to know that Sanjay Raut had given Rs 3 crore in cash to vendors for 10 plots in Alibaug.
“Statement of former HDIL accountant also recorded today. Apart from money transferred to Sanjay Raut’s account, he had received large amount of cash from Praveen Raut. This is the money used in the purchase of flats in Alibaug and Mumbai,” the ED said in a statement.
At the same time, on Wednesday, the statement of the former accountant of HDIL was recorded in this case. According to the ED, apart from transferring money to Sanjay Raut’s account, the Shiv Sena leader had received a large amount of cash from Praveen Raut. This money was used for the purchase of flats in Alibaug and Mumbai.
Sanjay Raut is on remand
Earlier on Tuesday, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut was handed over to ED remand by the court for four days. The ED is questioning him in connection with the Patra Chawl case.
During the hearing, ED’s counsel Ed Hiten Venegaonkar told the court that the probe revealed that out of the scam money (Rs 1.6 crore) a plot of land was purchased at Alibaug’s Kihim Beach. The lawyer further said that a plot was taken in the name of Sapna Patkar. Investigation also revealed that Praveen Raut was Sanjay Raut’s front man.

Patra Chawl scam is of Siddharth Nagar of Goregaon, suburban area of Mumbai. This area is popularly known as Patra Chawl. It is spread over 47 acres, with a total of 672 houses. The investigation of the case of rigging in the same Patra Chawl redevelopment project is now in the hands of the ED.
The contract for rehabilitation was given to Guru Ashish Construction Limited (GACPL). But, even after 14 years people have not got a house.
