Pune, Maharashtra: In a shocking incident that unfolded in Pune recently, an MSc student studying at the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT) allegedly committed suicide in his hostel room. According to a release, the boy hanged himself from the ceiling fan. Police suspect that the deceased, identified as 24-year-old Aneet Abhishek, was depressed.
Police Recover Suicide Note
The incident reportedly took place last Thursday, April 17. The authorities even recovered a suicide note from the victim’s room. Meanwhile, the University administration informed that Aneet’s friends noticed his absence during the morning and tried contacting him. The release stated, “Around 8.30pm when he didn’t respond, they reached his room and found the door locked from inside. On breaking the door, Abhishek was found hanging from the ceiling fan.”
Police Seize Student’s Belongings
His body was later shifted to Sassoon General Hospital for postmortem examination. Meanwhile, DIAT informed his family members. Police arrived at the scene and seized his things – a laptop, phone, and tablet. Following the tragic event, the deceased student was rushed to a nearby hospital in an ambulance but was declared dead upon arrival.
Police Suspect ‘He Was Depressed’
Police have registered a case of accidental death, and an investigation into the matter is on. The exact reason for the student’s extreme step is not yet ascertained, but authorities are suspecting that ‘he was depressed.’
