New Delhi: The Delhi Police Sunday arrived at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s residence to seek information about the victims of sexual assault that the latter talked about.

Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh Sunday questioned as to why the Delhi Police took 45 days to inquire about ‘sexual assault victims’ mentioned by party’s top official Rahul Gandhi during the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’.

He said, “It has been 45 days since Bharat Jodo Yatra ended. They (Delhi police) are going for questioning after 45 days. If they are so much concerned why did not they go to him in February?”

Ramesh added that legal team of Rahul Gandhi will respond to it it as per law.

On March 16, the police had sent a notice to the Wayanad MP in the matter after taking “cognizance of the social media posts and sent a list of questionnaires.”

The Delhi Police cited that they are in need of the details of these deceased so they can provide them security.

During the Congress’ Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi had mentioned that he met several victims of domestic violence along the way. He said that several women approached him saying that there partners beat them.

“In one particular case I asked a girl, she had been raped, I asked her should we call the police, she said that don’t call the police then I will be shamed,” said the Congress MP during the Congress’ footmarch in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar.
