PM Tried To Portray Me as Corrupt, Claims Arvind Kejriwal in Bold Accusation

Kejriwal concluded by questioning the allegations against him, asking, "Am I the thief, or are the people who sent me to jail the real thieves?"

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and former Delhi chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal, accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of conspiring to label him and AAP leader Manish Sisodia as corrupt. Speaking at the ‘Janta ki Adalat’ event held at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on Sunday, Kejriwal claimed that Modi’s intention was to damage their reputation. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi conspired against us. He conspired to prove me and Manish Sisodia corrupt. He tried to taint our image,” he stated.

A Decade of Honest Governance

Kejriwal emphasized that he had been leading the Delhi government for the last 10 years with integrity. He alleged that PM Modi’s strategy to defeat him was by attacking his honesty. “The only way he thought he could win against me was to attack my honesty,” Kejriwal said.

Resignation and Dedication to Change

Kejriwal explained his decision to step down, stating, “I resigned because I am not hungry for the Chief Minister’s chair. I am not here to earn money, but to change the politics of the country.” He also mentioned that he would vacate the Chief Minister’s residence soon and claimed that even after a decade in office, he does not own a house in Delhi.

Emotional Response to Corruption Allegations

Addressing the corruption charges, Kejriwal expressed his emotional turmoil, saying, “I don’t have a thick skin. It hurts, and I feel sad when BJP calls me corrupt.” He argued that his actions as Chief Minister, such as providing free electricity, free bus rides for women, and improving public schools and hospitals, were proof of his integrity. “If I were dishonest, would I have done all this? The BJP is in power in 22 states, yet they haven’t made electricity or bus rides free for women,” he questioned.

Kejriwal concluded by questioning the allegations against him, asking, “Am I the thief, or are the people who sent me to jail the real thieves?”
