In a shocking incident, a 17-year-old girl was beaten to death by her father after she failed to secure good marks in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). The incident has been reported from Nelkaranji village in Sangli district of Maharashtra and the deceased has been identified as Sadhana Bhosale.
Sadhana was a class 12 student in a school in Atpadi and dreamt of becoming a doctor. But her father Dhondiram Bhosale, who is himself a school headmaster, was furious after she scored low marks in the NEET mock exam.
When Sadhana was asked about her poor performance, her answer infuriated the headmaster father. The teen had asked, “Papa, which collector did you become? You also had low marks.” As she uttered those words, the angry father picked up a wooden stick and started beating her. The beating was so ruthless that Sadhana lost her life.
Father Kept Beating Her All Night
It is reported that Dhondiram kept beating his daughter mercilessly for the whole night. Sadhana was seriously injured, but despite this, her father did not take her to the hospital. Instead, he went to attend a Yoga Day program the next morning.
When he returned, he saw that Sadhana was lying unconscious. She was rushed to the hospital, but she died before treatment could begin.
The incident has caused deep anger in the village regarding this inhuman behaviour. Police have arrested the accused father and further investigation into the case is underway.
