Pakistani Spy Using Fake Name ‘Neha Sharma’ Pretended To Be BHEL Employee To Steal Confidential Information

The investigation showed that Vikas was in contact with a person suspected of being a Pakistani agent, who used the fake name "Neha Sharma" to reach out to him.

On Wednesday, the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) arrested a junior works manager from the Kanpur Ordnance Factory. He is accused of sharing secret and important information with a suspected Pakistani spy, according to a statement.

What information did the Ordnance factory worker leak?

The investigation found that Vikas was in touch with a person suspected of being a Pakistani agent. This person used the fake name “Neha Sharma” to contact him.

“Vikas had been sending confidential documents and sensitive data related to ordnance manufacturing, employee attendance sheets, machine layouts, and production charts via WhatsApp,” ATS stated.

The Pakistani agent pretended to be a BHEL employee

Authorities said the Pakistani agent claimed to be an employee of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) and first contacted Vikas on Facebook. They later swapped mobile numbers and kept in touch on WhatsApp.

To avoid being caught, they used the Ludo gaming app for secret chats, the statement said. Vikas was reportedly promised money to share classified information, it added.

Another case resulted in Vikas’ arrest

The arrest happened just days after another Ordnance Factory worker, Ravindra Kumar, was arrested on March 13 in Firozabad for similar crimes. During his questioning, ATS officials learned about Vikas, who had also been in contact with the suspected Pakistani agent since January 2025, PTI reported.

After Ravindra Kumar reportedly admitted to the crime, a case was filed against him under Section 148 of the Indian Penal Code and the Official Secrets Act of 1923. He was then arrested.

“On a thorough probe, it was found that Ravindra Kumar, a chargeman at the Ordnance Factory in Hazratpur, was sending sensitive and confidential information to a Pakistani agent, who was his Facebook friend,” the statement said.
