A 46-year-old man was arrested on Monday for allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl who was home alone. Both the girl and accused are residents of Sector-52. The girl’s father works in the insurance sector and her mother works at an office of a car showroom. On Sunday afternoon, the girl was at home as her parents had stepped out for work-related commitments.
At around 5 pm on Sunday, the girl called her mother and said that the accused who lived one floor above her, entered her house while she was sleeping, restrained her, and raped her before leaving.
The child’s mother quickly contacted her husband and ran back home. When she arrived, the girl was nearly unconscious with veins of sexual assault. The couple instituted a complaint under the appropriate BNS and POCSO Act. Once the police received the case, the accused turned off his phone and attempted to flee, the family claimed.
The family detailed that the girl was traumatized, afraid of strangers but had decided to stop going to school. The police stated that the accused was arrested and taken before the court.
